Today begins the new chapter in my life. After twelve hours of traveling I have finally arrived in LONDON, ENGLAND! I am so happy and blessed to be here.
On the way here I was fortunate enough to be on the same flight at the other four girls from Pacific Lutheran University who will be studying with me. I was able to sleep most of the flight, but woke up with the sudden urge to open the blinds and look out the airplane window… and was I glad I did. There in the distance were the Northern Lights. Green, glowing, slowly moving it was a clear reminder that God is so creative and gave us such a beautiful world to explore. What a start to an adventure, eh?
After a layover in Iceland and a three-hour flight I landed in beautiful London to a sunny, clear sky. A short jaunt to my host family’s house (pictured above) really made this whole adventure sink in! I will be living in North Harrow, Middlesex just about 45 minutes outside of London! My host mom, Marie, helped me bring in my three, heavy bags… yes three bags.. into the house, and then we sat down for a cup of tea–loving this!–to get to know one another. She is the loveliest lady, and I know she will be a great support throughout my time here. I have a host dad, Brendan, host brother, Terence (14), and host sister, Sarah (12), oh and the house cat, Jack–currently lying on my bed just like my cat Scat! They seem like a wonderful, warm family, and I am really looking forward to getting to know them over these next four months. I will also be sharing a room with Sarai, another student from University of Portland in the program with me!
Tomorrow I will hop on the tube into London to begin orientation with AHA International and meet my other classmates. Praying for continued peace so that I can enjoy every moment!
Below is the route I will taking tomorrow to get to AHA London Centre! Wish me luck! Pictures to follow!
